Cornelius Hegewald, age 91 of Grand Rapids, joined his beloved wife of 63 years in their heavenly home on February 15, 2021. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard. Cornelius is survived by his daughters Sarah (Jim) Breuker, Heidi (Jack) VanSledright, Tammi (David) Haaland; son Thomas Hegewald; grandchildren Benjamin (Amber), Aaron (Elida), Bonnie and Daniel VanSledright, Adam Breuker, Rachel (Nick) Reed, Micah (fiancée Elizabeth), Caleb, Jonathan, Eden and Faith Haaland; great-granddaughter Myra VanSledright; brothers-in-law Gayle Thomas and Paul Warnshuis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cornelius was a longtime member of LaGrave Avenue Christian Reformed Church where the private service will be held. Friends are invited to watch the service via livestream on Friday, February 19 at 11 AM, (link available on the funeral home’s memory page). Interment in Fairplains Cemetery.
