Charles W. Cheslek, “Chuck”, age 96, of Grand Rapids, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 23, 2021. He was born in the summer of 1925 to the late Francis and Jessie [Mead] Cheslek. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia [Bowman], their grandson Justin Cheslek and his four siblings. He is survived by his children, James and Heidi Cheslek, Camella Lytle, Gary and Linda Cheslek, Steven and Kristin Cheslek, and Susan and Terry Knoll as well as by several grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Chuck proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He had been an active member at Westend Christian Reformed Church and served on the school board of West Side Christian School. He very proud of his Grand Rapids Community College degree. Chuck retired from 35 years of committed service to General Motors Fisher Body Trim Plant in Grand Rapids. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with Sylvia and most of all spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the Heritage Life Story Alt & Shawmut Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 10-11 AM. A Graveside Service will follow at Washington Park Cemetery starting at 11:15 AM when Chuck will be laid to rest next to Sylvia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to West Side Christian School, 955 Westend NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504.
