Bernice (Wierenga) Luebke, aged 86, entered her eternal home Tuesday, January 3, 2005 and reunited with her husband, Ralph; sisters, Jeanne Decker and Lucille Flik; brothers, Rev. Bud and Gordie Wierenga; sister-in-law, Ann Wierenga; brother-in-law, Dr. Martin Decker; and her parents, Peter and Celia. She is survived by her children, Tom Luebke, Dr. Dan Luebke, and Mary (George) Bennett; grandchildren, Tom Jr., Rob, Lisa (Rodney) Leversee, Levi, Eric, Katie Luebke, Adam (Tomi), and Laura Bennett. Also surviving are her brothers and their wives, Bob (Jackie) and Don (Ginny) Wierenga; brother-in-law George (Lois) Flik; as well as many nieces, nephews and DeKorne family cousins. Following the death of her mother Bernice, while in her late teens, helped raise her brothers and sisters, especially her beloved Gordie, and is cherished as Aunt Bim by her large extended family. She enjoyed the beauty of Glen Lake and the annual vacations that brought her immediate and extended family together every year. Formerly of Port Huron, Bernice unselfishly practiced her Lutheran faith in many benevolent ways. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2777 Five Mile Rd. NE Grand Rapids. Pastor Larry Hoese officiating. Interment Fairplains Cemetery. Visitation Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Zaagman Memorial Chapel and for one hour at the church prior to the funeral service. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Holland Home, Messiah Lutheran Church, or Alzheimer's Association West Michigan Region.
