Barbara Sturrus

It is with heavy yet joyful hearts that we announce that Barbara Sturrus, age 98, has gone home to be with her savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara was born March 22, 1928 to John and Laura VanderJagt. She married Peter Sturrus in June of 1947. Through God’s grace, she was given the gift of fanning the flames of faith. Her hope was that all who follow behind her would find her faithful. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Charlene Zerrenner, her son Thomas (Teresa) Sturrus, her daughter-in-law, Patty Sturrus and her son-in-law, David Anderson. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Sturrus, her grandson, Daane DeBoer, her son James Sturrus and her daughter, Sharon Anderson. We consider ourselves richly blessed by our loving God to have known her and been guided by her. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 12:30 PM at 7th Reformed Church, 950 Leonard St NW. Friends may visit with her family beginning at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
