Life Story / Obituary

Barbara Ann Meyers (Thias), age 92, of Walker, Michigan went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Barbara was born on February 12, 1932 to Henry and Barbara (Toth) Thias in a simple farmhouse off the shores of Lake Michigan near Holland. Her life was marked by her faith in Jesus. She will be remembered for her great kindness and life-giving spirit. She loved to serve her church and family. She had a special heart for children and took care of many including newborns during her time as a nurse at Butterworth Hospital. She loved to cook and bake and always made sure everyone in her house had full stomachs. Barbara had a love for the outdoors and could often be found tending to her garden and flowers.

Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of over seventy years, Stanley.

Barbara will be dearly missed by her children Michael (Kristine), David (Louise), and Roger (Desiree), grandchildren Nathan (Esther), Ben (Nancy), Abbey (Todd) Archer, Lauryn (Travis) VerStrate, Kara, Michael (Elisabeth), Jenna (Dale) Kats, and Matthew, and 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 3, from 6 to 8 pm and Wednesday, September 4, from 10 to 11 am with a service at 11 am, Rev. David VanderMeer officiating. Both visitations and the service will be held at Walker United Reformed Church, 1941 Randall Avenue, NW, Grand Rapids.
