Barbara Lynn McGorty, [Erickson], aged 70, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 24, 2024.

Barb was born in Grand Rapids, MI in the summer of 1954 to the late Willard and Lorraine Erickson.

Along with her parents, She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Maureena as well as by her stepmother Bertha Erickson.

Barb is survived by her two sons, Eric (Natalie) McGorty and Sean McGorty, her grandchildren Josselynn (Tyler), Nellie, Tristan, Kivrin, Jameson, Owen and Lillian as well as by her sister Sandra Erickson.

She had enjoyed a long career as a Respiratory Therapist with Butterworth Hospital, a calling she was very proud of. She was particularly gifted in the caring and compassionate treatment of her children patients.

Barb had been member at Westview Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, MI.

She will be remembered for her love of animals and her frequent trips to John Ball Zoo. Barb was a very creative person and enjoyed her many crafts and art projects. She loved genealogy. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She was a caring, compassionate, strong and engaged mother and grandmother.

Funeral services have been scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, Alt-Shawmut Chapel, (2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504). Friends may meet with family for a time of visiting prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. A Luncheon/Reception will follow the service.
