Barbara Jean Gnidziejko age 89, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on February 20, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Cecelia Gnidziejko; brother-in-law, Robert Sherwood; and nephew-in-law, Jim McGrath. Barbara is survived by her sisters, Virginia Sherwood of Grand Rapids, MI and Marcia Lowrey of San Diego, CA; nieces and nephews, Robert (Mary) Sherwood Jr., Thomas Sherwood, Cynthia (Larry) Hatfield, Lisa (Bob) Manor, SaraLynne (Vincent) Precht and Becki McGrath; great-nieces and nephews, Mike Sherwood, Todd (Marci) Sherwood, Jesse Hatfield, Kyle Hatfield, Will Sherwood, Natalie Manor and Steven Manor; 5 great-great-nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends. Barb was a faith filled person, kind and generous, very loving Aunt with a special gift of connecting with children. She would do anything for her family. She had a large diverse circle of friends who she also treated like family. She loved music, had a beautiful soprano voice and sang her way through life. She will be missed dearly, but we know she is singing now with the Heavenly Angels. Barb was a member of and traveled with the Grand Rapids Diocesan Choir to Ireland which performed in many cathedrals. She also sang in the Sacred Heart church choir, guitar group at Sacred Heart and volunteered at local hospitals. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM on Monday February 24, 2020 at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 2510 Richmond St. NW. Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, with a Rosary at 5:30, on Sunday at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW and on Monday for one hour prior to Mass. Inurnment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Contributions to Catholic Charities of West Michigan or Alzheimer’s Association of Michigan would be appreciated.
