Genuinely interested in people, Audrey Hallatschek enjoyed making others feel comfortable in her presence. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her two sons and making others happy. Gone too soon, she leaves behind a rich collection of memories for her many special friends and family to cherish forever.

Audrey’s story began in the year 1992. Space Shuttle Endeavour was successfully launched in Florida, Cartoon Network was established on the Turner Broadcasting System, and the largest shopping center, Mall of America, opened its doors in Minnesota. Dennis and Helen (Vince) Cooper were pleased to announce the birth of their baby girl, Audrey Michelle, on March 13th, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joining her older brother, Aaron, and later followed by her baby sister, Ashely her birth brought much joy and promise in an era of great promise.

Her strong personality was seen from an early age. Audrey excelled in her studies and attended Knapp Charter Academy through the eighth grade. Active as well as physically fit, she enjoyed running on the cross-country team in middle school. Social and studious, Audrey balanced the demands of marching band season as well as participated as a flag bearer. Her skills on the saxophone were a natural gift leading her to also play in the school’s jazz band.

A proud graduate of the Class of 2010 from Forest Hills Eastern, Audrey entered the world of work with a strong sense of self and enough optimism to carry her through any difficulties coming her way. Audrey enjoyed having a paper route and worked at the local Meijer as a cart pusher as well as a cashier. Her natural charm and cheerful demeanor were a great match for working at the cash register and interacting with customers. Meijer was also the perfect spot to meet Jacob Hallatschek. They fell in love and married in 2011. Together, they welcomed home two children; Nikolas in 2012 and Arik in 2014. Just a couple of years later in 2016, their marriage ended.

Audrey enjoyed adventures. She loved taking her boys out to parks, Craig’s Cruisers, the local zoo, as well as trampoline parks. Exploring together and finding joy at the beach near the sand and water were some of her favorite moments spent together. She shared her love of Mexican food and Sour Patch watermelon-flavored chewy candies with her boys. Audrey held many special interests including her collection of owls and flamingos. She couldn’t resist adding to her assortment from time to time. When it came to music, she enjoyed a wide variety of pop artists. Above all else, Audrey loved her family and her boys. Always known to put others first, there simply wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them.

She loved each and every moment spent with her family and always looked back on these special times. Any amount of time they were together her heart was content. Yet, she also enjoyed time vacationing. Audrey was known to travel over the years to Florida and also to Las Vegas with her dear friend, Louis Gonzales. The two of them shared a special relationship through their connection working together at McDonalds. They would enjoy going out together to local restaurants especially her favorite, the Beltline Bar in town, and talked nearly every day. Audrey was devastated when he died in April 2023. Grief took a toll on her and she was never quite the same. Being surrounded by people she loved meant the most to her. Fearless as well as outgoing, Audrey leaves behind a wonderful collection of memories and good times. Sadly, she is gone. May her loved ones look back fondly on the imprint she left on their hearts and may her memories be eternal.

Hallatscheck (Cooper), Audrey- We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of Audrey Michelle Hallatscheck, of Wyoming, on June 15, 2023, at the age of 31. Audrey is survived by her sons, Nikolas and Arik Hallatscheck; parents, Helen and Dennis Cooper; sister, Ashely (Dustin) Schaap and their children, Alexander and Elora. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1992 and graduated from Forest Hills Eastern High School in 2010. Audrey was a devoted mother, sister, and daughter. She worked at McDonald's as a general manager and recently for LIFE EMS in helping others and played an important role in the emergency community. Audrey enjoyed watching her sons play sports, going to the gym, and playing with her niece and nephew.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – Van Strien Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield Ave NE.
