Life Story / Obituary
NORDYKE – Mrs. Anne Nordyke, aged 99 of Grand Rapids, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt went to be with her faithful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on whom she relied for His continuous and faithful provision and care each day. Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Louis, on May 19, 1988, after fifty-two years of marriage, and her son-in-law Harold Vander Laan. She will be dearly missed by her children, Beverly and Kenneth Brink of Elkhart, IN, Barbara and J. Patrick Sandro of Grand Rapids, MI, Marianne and Daniel Wood of Madison, WI, Judith VanderLaan of Grand Rapids, MI, and Frances and Michael Douglas of Grand Rapids, MI. Also surviving are her dearly loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Timothy and Allison Brink (Jacob and Genevieve), Sheila and Scott Addison (Louis, Theodore, and Emmett), Patrick and Nicole Sandro, Colleen Sandro, Kelly Sandro (Kaylee and Kevin), Eric and Cynthia Gill (Samantha and Michael), Karen and Alex Munoz (Lucas and Isabel), Shannon and William Mobley (Sophia, Georgia, and Luke), Deborah and Michael Rottschafer (Erin, Seth, and Moriah), Michael and Megan VanderLaan (Jeff, Brendan, and Owen), Andrew VanderLaan (Reece and Mia), Derek and Cynthia Baldwin (Justin, Connor, and Olivia), Ryan and Candi Baldwin (Allysa and Destiny), and Keri Hollis (Rylee and Paige). The family would like to thank Anne’s pastor, the Reverend Timothy Meendering of Fourth Reformed Church for his visits, prayers, and love. Also, the family thanks the wonderful staff and volunteers at Meals At Home of Grand Rapids, Hospice of Michigan nurse, Carrie, and Anne’s nieces, Janice Quist and Ellamae Bergman, for their care and their love. A private family service will be held to honor Anne’s faith and her belief in Jesus’ words: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die”. For those who wish, memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan or Meals at Home would be appreciated.
