Alisha June Kamminga, age 43, of Dallas, TX, passed away on November 29, 2023, and is now in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She is survived by her son, Jack Henry Jacobsen; her mother, Ellen Dunkle; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jason Kamminga & Irene Choi, Kortney & Kathryn Kamminga; niece and nephews, Allison, Karter and Kayden; aunts and uncles, Betsy Shippy, Sandra Parks, Susan & Mike Verwys, Marylou & Chip Bunata, Tom & Jennifer Dunkle, Tim & Kristin Dunkle, Rick & Wendy Dunkle and their families; grandmother Ruth Kamminga; as well as many cousins. Alisha was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Kamminga Jr.; her stepfather, Roger Dunkle; her grandparents, George & June Barents, and Frederick Sr. & Barbara Kamminga; and her uncle, Mark Shippy.

Alisha lived her life with a sense of adventure. After graduating from Forest Hills Central in Grand Rapids, she moved to Chicago where she graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago. From there, she moved to New York City, Dubai, Philadelphia, New Mexico and Dallas with careers in Event Planning and Recruitment. As she traveled internationally, Alisha made friends wherever she went. After she moved to Dallas, TX, she had her son, Jack, the love of her life.

Visitation will be held from 12-2 PM on Saturday, December 16, at Fifth Reformed Church, 2012 Griggs St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. A service to remember and celebrate Alisha’s life will follow at 2 PM. Please join the family for a time of refreshment after the service.
