Winifred Jean Kalkofen, age 89, went to be with her Lord & Savior on Sunday, February 28, 2021. Winifred was born in the fall of 1931 in Grand Rapids, MI to the late Andrew and Wilma VanderMulen. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Isabel and brother Andrew. She is survived by her husband and best friend of over 70 years, Donald J. Kalkofen and their son David (Anna) Kalkofen and daughter Karen (James) Urquhart, grandchildren; Karie (Cory) Kirby, Kraig (Jodi) Steele, Kaitlin ( David) Alvarez and Nikki Kalkofen, seven great-grand children and sister Elaine Lett as well as by many nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of the class of 1949 at Grand Rapids Christian High School. Winifred had been a longtime and faithful member of Walker Christian Reformed Church and for several years attended Cooks Congregational Church in Manistique, MI. Winifred enjoyed bowling, golf and music. But most importantly she will be remembered for her love of her family and her contribution of music as organist at several churches in the Manistique MI. area of the Upper Peninsula. As per Winifred's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no immediate public services. Private family services will take place in the forthcoming summer months. Memorial contributions may be directed to Faith Hospice (2100 Raybrook St SE #300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546). Please visit Winifred web page to leave a memory or condolence at www.heritagelifestory.com
