BOYNTON, Wilma J.

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 88, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Wilma was born October 30, 1932 in Grand Rapids to the late William and Maude (Ploeger) Haak. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel; and sisters, Peggy Comstock and Betty Kuiphof. Wilma was a dedicated newborn baby nurse, but above all loved being a mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her quick wit, and love for dancing, karaoke and playing cards. Wilma is survived by her children, William (Kim) Boynton of Grand Rapids, Tim (Cheryl) Boynton of Hudsonville, Terry Boynton of Wyoming, Cindy Lehnert of Walker; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A service to celebrate Wilma's life will be held Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11 AM at Crossroads Bible Church, 800 Scribner Ave NW. A private family interment will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.

Jean was originally born in Grand Rapids and remained in the area most of her life.

She had five children, 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Jean loved kids! She was passionate about her job as an LPN taking care of newborn babies at Spectrum hospital, where she worked for 35 years. Jean loved her job!

Jean also spent one summer working on Mackinaw Island with her best friend, as well as owned a restaurant for a while with her husband. Her children reminisce on times when she would bring them into the restaurant and they would watch her make soup for customers.

Jean was adored for her sense of humor and witty comebacks – she was such a tease! She was extremely social and outgoing. She loved music, dancing, and playing card games (Uno was her favorite).
