WECKENMAN, William C.

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 76, passed away due to complications of Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma March 7, 2020. Bill was born September 28, 1943 to the late Ralph and Helen (Mazany) Weckenman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Air Force reserves and a member for 31 years of The American Legion. Bill graduated from Grand Valley State College with a bachelor of science degree. Bill worked as a paraprofessional in local schools and later became a licensed practical nurse, a profession he valued and was passionate about. On November 20, 1965 he married the former Jennifer Gassert. Bill's wife of 54 years survives, as do sisters-in-law, Lynne Fields of Cleona, PA, Cheryl (Charles) Brandt of Bridgeville, DE; and several nephews and a niece. Bill was abundantly loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially by his wife. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service with Military Honors will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Friends may visit beginning at 1 PM. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
