Life Story / Obituary

Tia Kue Moua was born August 11,1948 in Pu Hej, Xiangkhouang, Laos to Cha Doua Kue and Shoua Chang as the third child of five. She lost her father at a young age, and soon helped her mother work and take care of her younger siblings. At the age of 17, she married Khoua Moua and they started their own family without further ado. After the Vietnam War, they immigrated to America residing in Philadelphia and then eventually moving to California where they spent most of their lives. Tia and Khoua were married for 46 years. They have six children and twelve grandchildren. Tia was the most loving wife, hardworking mother, caring daughter, faithful sister, dedicated grandmother, and an outstanding chef. She took care of all her children, not once allowing them to walk to school. Although Tia had very little education and did not speak English well she always pushed her children towards higher education. After her youngest graduated, Khoua and Tia, along with four of their children, made the move to West Michigan where they all currently reside.

With a warm smile and a welcoming heart, Tia Kue Moua lived a life rich in family and friends. Tia possessed a bubbly personality and had a natural love for all people. She made friends easily and never hesitated to approach anyone. Her strong-will, determination, and independence were evident in her unwavering faith that everything would work out fine regardless of life’s challenges. The life of the party, Tia enthusiastically embraced each day as a gift to be celebrated. Cherished by many, Tia will long be remembered and so very missed.

Without a doubt, it is difficult to imagine life in the absence of Tia’s bright and beautiful presence. May we find comfort in our many treasured memories, and in the privilege of carrying her legacy forward. With each stranger we greet as a friend, chocolate we indulge, challenge we meet with confidence, and meals we gather around with loved ones, we celebrate the many ways Tia gifted our lives. In this way, we will keep her spirit alive and continue to prosper with joy and laughter.
