VANDENBRINK, Steven

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 66, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Steve was born October 25, 1954 in Long Beach, CA to Gordon and Joan (Johnson) VandenBrink. He graduated from Michigan Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Steve was a member of American Society of Civil Engineers and A.P.A. & B.C.A. pool leagues. He was a co-founder with his close friend, Larry Fleis, of Fleis and VandenBrink Engineering. Steve also established the infamous VGA Saturday morning golf league that he enjoyed for 30 years. He will be remembered for his love of playing poker, pool and golf. On July 24, 1976, Steve married Therese Messock. His wife of 45 years survives as do his children, Steve (Zona Maitner) VandenBrink of Hudsonville, Dana (Andrew) Pleasant of Lowell; grandchildren, Kylie and Aiden; parents, Gordon and Joan VandenBrink of Hudsonville; siblings, Dennis (Nancy) VandenBrink of Portage, Kathy (Dave) Corey of Wyoming, Karla (Kurt) Stevens of Grandville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Harry Worst of Wyoming; several special nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may visit with family on Monday, July 26, 2021 from 11AM-2 PM and 4 PM-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. A private funeral service will be held.
