Life Story / Obituary

Print

Stanley Lee Meyers, age 91, of Walker, Michigan departed from this life and entered the glory of his beloved Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 21, 2024.

Born to George and Cora Meyers, Stan grew up in Muskegon and Fremont, Michigan. He attended college but discovered that he enjoyed building more than academics and entered into a career in construction. After an early retirement, Stan showed the mercies of Jesus to those in need using his building and handyman skills.

For 57 years Stan and Barb camped with family and friends at Young State Park on Lake Charlevoix where he was known as "the Mayor." He shared his enthusiasm for camping and boating with those he ministered to.

Stan will be remembered for his love for God and his family and friends. All his life he steadfastly served the Lord, laying up far more treasure in heaven than on earth.

Stan will be dearly missed by his loving wife Barbara who he cherished throughout their 70 years of marriage, their children Michael (Kristine), David (Louise), and Roger (Desiree), grandchildren Nathan (Esther), Ben (Nancy), Abbey (Todd) Archer, Lauryn (Travis) VerStrate, Kara, Michael (Elisabeth), Jenna (Dale) Kats, and Matthew, and 17 great grandchildren.

Visitation and a funeral service will take place at Walker United Reformed Church, 1941 Randall Avenue NW, Grand Rapids. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, January 25, and from 11 am to 12 noon on Friday, January 26, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12 noon, Rev. David VanderMeer officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mission India.
