DYKSTRA, Shirley A.

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 82, entered her heavenly home, January 8, 2022. Shirley was born October 10, 1939 in Grand Rapids to the late Adrian and Mary (Haisma) Potgeter. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ivan Goulooze; and brother-in-law, Henry Popjes. Shirley was devoted to the life and care of her family, served faithfully through Stephen Ministries, and was a longtime supporter Christian Education. On October 16, 1958, she married Peter Dykstra. Her husband of 63 years survives as do their children, Dr. Joel (Blanca) Dykstra of Springfield, IL, Carolyn (Paul) VanDyke of Nunica; grandchildren, Javier, Alejandra, & Gabriela Dykstra and Adrian & Victoria VanDyke. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce (Robert) Bramer of Tallmadge Twp., Donna (Larry) Wiersma of Spring Lake; sister-in-law, Miriam Popjes of Jenison; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held, Thursday January 13, 2022 at 11 AM at Seventh Reformed Church, 950 Leonard St NW. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 2-4, 6-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW and beginning at 10 am Thursday at church. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Ann's Home or Emmanuel Hospice.
