Sharon (Nolan) VanBennekom, aged 82, of Grand Rapids, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 5, 2025. Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Dorthea Forsythe; stepfather, Francis Forsythe; and father, Russell Nolan. Sharon will be dearly missed and remembered by her loving husband of 63 years, Laurence VanBennekom; son, Larry VanBennekom; daughters, Brenda (Scott) Lubbers, Kimberly (Bob) McCambridge; grandchildren, Dustin Styburski; Kyle (Juanita) McCambridge, Nicholas (Samantha Marvin) Lubbers, Jason Lubbers; great-grandchildren, Emmalynn and Oliver Lubbers, Vanessa Scribner-Talamantez; siblings, Johnnie (Roger) VanBennekom, Diana (Dan) DeKorte, Wayne (Linda) Forsythe and Dale (Anita) Forsythe; sister-in-law, Patricia (Jerry) Duffield and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ (1934 Bridge St. NW Grand Rapids, MI 49504) on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family at 11:00 AM, with the service beginning at Noon. There will be a luncheon following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ, as well as the National Kidney Foundation.
