Philip Charles Erwin Jr (PC) born on September 4, 1987, in Grand Rapids, was a man who lived his life to the fullest. He passed away on May 25, 2024, in the same city where his journey began.

Philip was the beloved son of Philip Erwin Sr and Geraldine McFarland-Erwin. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father John Wright, grandparents Helen Feikema (Malinowski), James McFarland, Helene Erwin, and Thomas Erwin. Also preceding him in death were his uncle James McFarland Jr, aunts Beverly Salazar and Cynthia (Cindy) Idziak.

Despite the loss of his close family members, Philip is survived by his siblings: Christopher Scanlon (Amber Waldon-Scanlon), Emily Erwin-Perez (Rafael Perez-Garo), and Brian Borrello. He is also survived by his aunt Catherine Erwin, uncle Roy Thorn, and numerous nephews and nieces: Thomas Scanlon, Gavin Scanlon, Mario Perez, Josiah Perez, Romeo Perez, Ashlyn Scanlon, Madelyn Scanlon, Hannah Scanlon, and Mariellie Perez.

Philip's life was one filled with passion and purpose. He found solace and joy in his faith and was dedicated to his church. Adventurous and determined, he faced life head-on and embraced every challenge with his characteristic stubbornness and strong will. Philip possessed a kind heart, always putting others before himself, ensuring everyone around him was taken care of.

Philip was a man of many talents, known for his skillful hands and clever mind. He inherited his father's ability to fix anything he set his mind to, always thinking outside the box to find creative solutions.

Philip's close family and friends got to spend time together one last time at a small, private showing that was held at the Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes in Grand Rapids, where they celebrated his life, shared happy memories, and bid him a final earthly goodbye. We chose not to hold a funeral or service, but cremation did take place. There will be a 'Celebration of Life' in the future that will be combined with a 'Celebration of Life' for our mother, Geraldine. Updates will be posted on this page.

In loving memory of Philip Charles Erwin Jr, may his legacy of kindness, determination, and unwavering spirit live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A saying that PC and our mother would always say before parting ways, “See you later Alligator, in a while Crocodile”.

You will forever be the best big brother && my protector, the one the universe connected me with-Emily
