Norman F. Ide age 94, passed away on March 1, 2022. Norm was born November 7, 1927 in Grand Rapids to the late Clyde M. Ide and Marie R.(Pixley)Ide. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Cunningham; and his siblings Howard Ide, Earl Ide and Theda McCormick. Norm was a proud veteran of the US Navy having enlisted at the age of 17. For the majority of his working career, he was a graphic illustrator for local newspapers - eventually taking him to CA, where he worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and retiring from Philco Ford. He also has lived in Oregon, Laughlin, Nevada and Florida before finding his way back to Grand Rapids. In his spare time, he enjoyed painting, gardening, reading everything on the topic of WW II and researching his family genealogy. Norm enjoyed every moment of his 94 years and was a true people person- enjoying a Bud Light or Martini at the local watering hole. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Tim) Terrell of Grandville; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter; and close companion Pat Meyer. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A spring memorial service will be announced in the future. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park.
