Nora Neve

Nora Marie Neve, age 92, passed away March 9, 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids on January 12, 1931 to Harold and Ella Mae (Lewitt) Brandt. Nora grew up with her big brother, Harold, in their home next to Miller's Ice Cream on Burton Street.

Nora is survived by her children, Cindy & Allen Poe, Judy & Chris Casey, Scott & Carole Neve; grandchildren Michelle Poe, Trevor Poe, Paul Casey, Scott Neve II, Ariane & Justin Hedlund, Rachel Neve; great-grandchildren Christina Neve, Grace, and Michael Hedlund.

As a teenager, Nora received salvation with her best friend Doris at a church meeting held by Billy Graham. She married her sweetheart Jerry, and they had 3 amazing children together. Nora was a loving stay-at-home mom who took great pleasure in caring for her home and children. She loved tending the rose bushes in the front yard in the flowerbox Jerry made (with the help of the kids). There were also many visits to Miller’s for ice cream!!!

As her kids grew, Nora provided for them by working hard at Dekker Bookbinding. After Nora retired, she lived in Greentree Apartments. She loved African violets and had quite a knack for getting them to bloom.

The last decade of her time on Earth was spent at Samaritas in Grand Rapids. The faithful nurses and workers loved Nora and they rejoice with us for her Homegoing Celebration in Heaven. The heartwarming stories we share about Nora are endless.

The family will arrange a memorial party of Nora’s life for a future date.

Interment in Fairplains Cemetery.
