Life Story / Obituary
Marilyn Kay Williams, 83, passed away on December 18, 2025. Marilyn was born July 14, 1942, in Grand Rapids to the late Wilbur and Margaret (Stryker) Dolfin.
Following graduation from Michigan State University Lynne married Edward L. “Ted” Williams Jr. on June 20, 1964. Soon after marrying, Lynne & Ted relocated to Virginia where they lived for 40 years, privileged to have many lifelong friends, before returning to Michigan.
Her husband of 61 years survives as do their children, Edward L. (Tamra) Williams III, and Julieanne (Charles) Ash; grandchildren, Taylor (Zacary) May, William Ash, Lydia Williams, Norah Williams, and Edward L Williams IV. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Rich; brothers-in-law, Todd (Candy) Williams and Arlie (Carol) Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Lynne was by education a speech pathologist, but first and foremost, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a terrific cook, and her hobbies included knitting, golf, bridge, mahjong, water sports and a love for “Lake Life”…as she and Ted retired as third generation occupants of the lake house that she had fond memories of visiting her grandparents as a child.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service was held. Interment will be in Grand Rapids Woodlawn Cemetery.
Her outgoing nature, unique laugh and pleasant smile will be greatly missed.
