Life Story / Obituary

Print

On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, the Lord called our beloved mother and grandmother Marilyn Jean Zoe home at the age of 87. Marilyn was born in Muskegon, Michigan, moving to Grand Rapids as a newly-wed with her husband Len. Marilyn dedicated her life to her family, raising her son Len and babysitting her grandchildren. Living out her Christian values, Marilyn also volunteered at the Christian Rest Home and faithfully attended Trinity Reformed Church. Marilyn was a spirited woman, bold in opinion, confident in herself, and deeply loving of those around her. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father Cornelius, mother Ethel VerVeer, and husband Len Zoe. She is survived by her son Lenny Zoe (Harriet), her grandson Andrew Zoe, her granddaughter Holly Zoe (fiancé Brent Cotten), the mother of her grandchildren, Sue Zoe, her dear cousin and close friend Brenda Heimstra, her special cousins Barry Dutmer and Mary (Dutmer) Wolf, several other cousins, and her nurse Bree, who took special care of her, as well as her special neighbor, Randy, who helped in many ways. The service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at 1:30 pm at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive N.W. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20, from 7:00- 9:00 pm and again on Wednesday from 12:30 until the service begins at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Trinity Reformed Church Building Fund.
