Lucille Irene Metz

Lucille Irene Metz, 102, left this earth to join her favorite dance partner, Frank George Metz, Jr on the dance floor of heaven on February 5, 2025. Born January 11, 1923 to the late Charlie and Martha Heffron in Grand Rapids. She was a graduate of Kellogsville High School. Married her husband of 50 years, Frank on April 1,1949.

Lucille loved learning and after time off to raise her family, she went back to school, graduating with a B.A. in Psychology from Grand Valley State University as part of the second graduating class. She wasn't done learning yet, so continued her education at Western Michigan University where she received her Master's Degree in Educational Psychology for the Junior College Curriculum. With her education behind her, Lucille went on to substitute teach, worked scoring student testing as they qualified for college and taught Spanish. In her spare time she was also the owner of a gift shop in Burton Heights, sold advertising for the Advance Newspaper along with her sister-in-law, Bette, and obtained her realtor's license.

Her favorite activities included painting in mixed media, but she especially loved working with oils, gardening, reading, traveling, and swimming. She was at her best when she vacationed in Florida, enjoying the weather.

Lucille was preceeded in death by her husband of 50 years, Frank George Metz, Jr., her parents, brother Ray and wife Bette Heffron, sister Helen Fessendon, her sons Frank George Metz III, Robert Henry, grandchildren Stacey E. Metz and Frank George Metz IV, and daughter-in-law Toni Adams.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Patricia Metz, son Norman Henry, special son-in-law James Adams (Sandra). Grandchildren Lori Bruney, Krista Adams, Brian Metz (Courtney), Emmanuel "Emmie" Henry, and William Henry, Jay (Yoko) Adams, Janie (John) Boles, and David Adams. Also survived by great-grands Abbie, Sarah and Jacob Bruney, and Amilia K. Metz. Brother Richard (Pat) Heffron, along with many nieces and nephews also survive her.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at The Oaks at Byron Center and to the staff of Emmanuel Hospice for taking such good care of our Grandma Lucy.

Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Emmanuel Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A graveside service will be held in the Spring 2025, with interment at Rosedale Memorial Park located at 0-50 Lake Michigan Drive following the service.
