Life Story / Obituary

Leonard Mol Sr., age 90 of Grand Rapids, passed away on July 10, 2026. He was born in Grand Rapids on April 11, 1936 to John and Nellie Mol. In time, he bought Wal-Vac of Grand Rapids and operated it for many years. He was also active in the Wyoming / Kentwood Chamber of Commerce and served as chairman of the Government affairs committee. After retiring, he became active in the Wyoming Police Department in the RSVP. But most important, he faithfully attended Heritage Reformed Congregation where he strengthened his faith.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in March; and his brothers and sister, John Mol, Jay Mol and Marjorie Courtright.

Leonard is survived by his children: Joanie (David) Reminga, Michael (Jackie) Mol, Leonard (Jan) Mol Jr., David (Cindy) Mol and Susan (Rodger) Sinen; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lois Mol, Harley (Eloise) Luyk and Tony (Joanne) Luyk, as well as several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 11 AM at Heritage Reformed Congregation, 540 Crescent St NE. Family and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home - Van Strien Creston Chapel, 1833 Plainfield Ave NE and on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10 AM. Contributions in his memory may be made to Grace Christian Academy or Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. Interment in Rosedale Memorial Park.
