John Ray Deater

John Ray Deater, born July 29, 1946 in Muskegon, died on October 5, 2025. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; parents, Floyd and Joyce Deater; siblings Cheryl, Judith, and Thomas Deater. John is survived by his sibling, older brother Floyd Deater; his children, Bradley Deater , Brian Deater, and Megan Deater and her husband, Nick Tatroe; three grandchildren, Weston Parrish and Gabriella Parrish and Alexandra Deater; and great granddaughter Willow Schiero. He attended a one room school house in Bridgeton until eighth grade, and then went to Grant high school he volunteered as a firefighter for Grant. He also volunteered for many different sports teams and always volunteered at his churches that he attended. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for always wanting to help others with their vehicles and all of his volunteering with the schools and his church. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon on Saturday November 1, 2025 at Parkwood Green Village, 1 Jack Pine Ave Sparta, MI 49345.
