JOAN VANDER VENNEN (HOLWERDA) passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 23, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William H. Vander Vennen. She is survived by her son, Bill and Sue Vander Vennen; grandchildren (and great grandchildren): Jim & Molly VanDerLaan (Jon, Andrew & fiancé Taylor Keppel, & Leah), Bill & Betsy Zeerip (Anna, Lauren & fiancé Christian Timmer, & Brant) and Blair & Joy Vander Vennen (Hayley, Cassidy, Nicholas & Zachary); sisters-in-law Gladys Holwerda, Sharon Holwerda; special friend, Ken Koetje; and several nephews and nieces. Joan was a volunteer for many years at Butterworth Hospital, worked as a precinct chairperson for the G.R. Board of Elections, and past member of the former Women’s City Club. Special thank you to the staffs of the Christian Rest Home and Trillium Woods for their loving and compassionate care. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM with the service of remembrance at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home – Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either West Side Christian School or the Pier Church.
