Jeffrey David Nixon, “JD” aged 60 from Grand Rapids MI formerly of: Monroe, MI; Traverse City, MI; and San Diego, California unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday December 2nd, 2020 following complications from open heart surgery. He has been reunited with his parents, Rev. Delbert and Vivian (Spangler) Nixon who preceded him in death. JD was known to many and loved by all who knew him. He was loyal and compassionate to his family and friends with the natural ability to make anyone he met feel special.

Known to his family, friends, and his clients within the community as an “artist extraordinaire”, his talents were vast and his profession was broad. He was never limited to one medium. He extracted beauty from everything he touched and created joy through creating floral arrangements, interior/exterior decorating and design, personalized stuffed animal creations, costume design, photography, and further specialized in making a wide range of baked goods which he generously shared with his friends and family. JD always brought the cheer to every party he attended (which was many) and was known for baking that “cheer” directly into his hand- crafted cakes and truffles.

Outside of exercising his artistic ability JD found delight in traveling, reading, music, theater, as well as the beauty of gardens. He was knowledgeable and versed in all topics and could hold an engaging conversation with anyone on an array of subject matter. His exuberant laugh and infectious humor filled every room he entered. It was impossible not to feel uplifted in his presence.

JD’s personality and spirit will be missed by the many lives that he touched. He will be deeply missed by his family: brothers; Tim (Delbert II) and Melissa Nixon, Charles and Shannon Nixon, Stephen and Deanne Nixon, sister; Kathryn (Nixon) and Robert Evans, his many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him, and his very special friends; Marilyn Heiss, and Mari Ignatoski. Immediate Family will gather in Jeff’s honor on Friday, January 8, 2021. The service will be Live Streamed for others and availability may change depending on current COVID guidelines. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in JD’s name to; New City Neighbors or En Vivo Church.
