Jane Marie (Mooney) Doane of Grand Rapids, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2020. Jane was born to John and Anne Mooney in Grand Rapids, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Patricia Heeren, husband of 66 years, Daniel Doane, and stillborn daughter, Elizabeth. Jane is survived by her other children, Jan (Randy) Slotten, Becky (Ted) Bouwkamp, Tom Doane and Jim (Renee) Doane; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Jane graduated from Catholic Central High School with a close-knit group of 10 lifelong friends she referred to as the “South East Bunch.” She went on to graduate from Grand Rapids Junior College, then worked at banks prior to having children and later for 20 years in the administration office for Forest Hills Public Schools. Jane loved beauty in its many forms, dressing from head to toe in coordinating outfits, expertly decorating her many homes, enjoying beautiful gardens tended with Dan, ushering and attending live theater and listening to music. She will be remembered by many for welcoming them to her neighborhoods and homes, often hosting delightful gatherings. Many thanks to the staff and friends at Covenant Living of the Great Lakes, Mercy Health St. Mary’s Hospital and Faith Hospice for helping Jane on her end of life journey. Given COVID restrictions, Jane will be buried at Plainfield Cemetery next to Dan, with a Catholic funeral service and gathering for family and friends on a later date to be announced.
