James Cahill

James William Cahill of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 5, 2021. He was born the Autumn of 1933 in Grand Rapids, MI to William and Frances [Becker] Cahill. Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; daughter Missy (Cahill) McKnight; and sister, Loretta Cahill. He is survived by his son, Kevin (Roberta) Cahill, son-in-law, Scott (Amber) McKnight; grandson, Connor McKnight; brother, Patrick (Sue) Cahill; nephew, William (Kellie) Cahill; niece, Katie (Mike) Fireline; and special friend, Ruth Harris. James was a long time member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1951 and was a passionate and enthusiastic Notre Dame graduate (1955) and supporter. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 628 Diamond Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49503 at 10 AM on Saturday, June 12, 2021 with the Monsignor Edward Hankiewicz officiating. Visitation is scheduled to take place at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 6-8 pm with the recitation of the rosary taking place at 7:30 pm. Visitation has also been scheduled for one hour prior to the service at church. James will be laid to rest in Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming MI.
