Helen Imperi Alexander, age 97, went to her heavenly home on December 4, 2019. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, brothers; Leo and Aldo (Mary) Imperi, sisters; Louise Labozzetta and Irene (Tony) Geglio, sisters-in-law; Sylvia Logan and Marianne Alexander, brother-in-law, James (Mary) Alexander as well as grandsons; Michael Alexander Mulder and William R. Slattery. She is survived by her children; Darla Alexander, Carol Levitte (Jim), Mary Botsis (Jim Lohr), Nancy Martin (Floyd, deceased), Billie Alexander Avery (Eric), Francine Alexander (Brant Funkhouser), Lucy Evans (Gary), Therese Brink (Vern), Nickie Alexander, Joanne Alexander (Bob White), William Alexander (Robbin), James Alexander (Valerie); sister-in-law, Anne A. Imperi; multitudes of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends Paul Miltgen, Judy Foy, and Phyllis Hansen-Schmidt. Born in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Luciano and Frances Imperi, Helen was a graduate of Aquinas College and Grand Valley State University. She was a reading teacher at Sacred Heart School for many years, as well as a substitute teacher for the Grand Rapids Public Schools. Visitation with the family will be held Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW, on Tuesday, December 10th, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 pm. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Ann's Home, or Emmanuel Hospice.
