Gladys Marie Barney

Gladys Marie Barney of Grand Rapids, MI, formerly of Lansing went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the age of 81. Gladys was born April 5, 1925 in Lansing, the daughter of Asa and Caroline (Erbe) Sleep. She was a resident of St. Ann's Home of Grand Rapids for 11 years. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, Sr. and three brothers, Marvin, Voyle and Francis Sleep. Surviving are her two sons, Russell, Jr. (Diane) of Grand Rapids and Robert (Ann Marie) of Houghton Lake; daughter, Patricia (Joseph) Patton of Perrington; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Meredith of Lansing; brothers, Kenneth (Margaret) Sleep, Russell (Carol) Sleep and Gerald (Norma) Sleep, all of Lansing and dear friend, Lucille Howard of Lansing. She was loved by all and will be missed. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, 10:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Delta Chapel, 6020 W. Saginaw Hwy., Lansing. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Ann's Home for all of their selfless care and loving compassion over the past 11 years.
