Evelyn Hoekwater

Evelyn June Hoekwater, age 97, of Grand Rapids MI went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 10 2024.She had been living at Stratford Pines nursing home, in Midland MI, for several years prior to her death. Evelyn was born on May 17, 1926 in Grand Rapids MI, the daughter of Isaac and Nellie German. She was a graduate of Creston High School. She was married to Arthur W. Hoekwater on June 14, 1946. Evelyn was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She made friends easily where ever she went. Evelyn supported the family with a various part time jobs including waitress and greeting card display set up. She was consistent in her Christian faith and attend services at Aberdeen Reformed Church. Evelyn was preceded in death by her three sisters Adrianna Sturkenberg. Janice Boss, Marion Burns and husband Arthur Hoekwater. She is survived by her only child, Gary (Susan) Hoekwater; grandchildren; Monica (David) Schroeder, Allison Hoekwater (Anthony Heap); and great grandchildren, Hans Schroeder and Henrik Schroeder. Funeral services will be held at Heritage Life Story Home at 1833 Plainfield NE, Grand Rapids, MI, on Friday, May 17, 1:00 PM viewing and service at 2:00 PM, with Scott Burdick officating.
