Life Story / Obituary

Print

Elaine Jeanette (Schefft) Jingles, age 86 , went home to be with Jesus, her Savior, on Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene (Gene), mother and step-father, William and Clara Young, father Myron Schefft, brother Eugene Schefft, and sister Barbara Feorene. She is survived by her children Laurie Larson; Jeffrey Larson (Cindy); special sister Rita Howard and step-children Kathryn Roush (Gary), Carolyn Ciminski (Gregg), Robert Jingles (Cathy), and Wendy Berry (Darryl); 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and her good friend Sue Jankowski. Elaine’s life was centered around her Faith, her family and many friends. It was only because of God’s great love for her in Jesus, that she was able to live her faith. Her love for knitting involved knitting over 1,000 nursery baby hats for Mercy Health Hospital. She also provided knitted prayer shawls to a country wide organization, Prayer Shawls for Families of Service Members, where families of loved ones are presented a prayer shawl to honor their service to their country. Relatives and friends may meet her family at Heritage Life Story, Van Strien-Creston Chapel on Thursday, February 17, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church, (2727 Five Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids MI 49525), on Friday, February 18 at 11 am. with Reverend Andrew Tweitmeyer officiating. An hour of visitation will precede the service beginning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church or Emmanuel Hospice.
