Edalene Kay Moore, age 70, of Orion Township, went to be with the Lord on March 1, 2020 Interment will take place at Washington Park Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids at a later date.

Edalene (Eddie) was born in Grand Rapids on May 3, 1949 to Russell and Fern (Ketchum) Moore. She was an employee of Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals for 29 years in food service and laundry departments.

Edalene is survived by her brother, Gerald T. Moore of Indiana, her sister Katherine (Moore) Escobedo of California, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Russell Moore, mother, Fern (Ketchum) Moore, brother, Roy Jay Moore, and sister, Edna Moore.

Edalene “Eddie” was a caring friend to the many persons who knew her. She learned sign language to communicate with a deaf co-worker and raised money for different non-profit organizations. Eddie researched her family’s ancestry, and recorded family stories told to her by her grandparents, Abram and Clara (Perry) Ketchum of Interlochen, MI. Eddie was also a creative artist, a published poet, song writer, and collector of autographs. One of her prized possessions was a signed family photo and letter from President Barack Obama and wife, Michelle, thanking Eddie for the beautiful, large beaded American flag she made and sent to President Obama and his family. Eddie loved to play with her kitties, be with friends, and play card games, bingo, and Yahtzee.

Thank you to Nature’s Way Adult Foster Care of Ortonville and the Villa of Silverbell Estates convalescent home in Orion Township both who encouraged Edalene to be the best she could be and also meet her daily health challenges throughout the last years of her life.

Memorial donations for Edalene may be given to the family for funeral expenses.
