Duane Swartz

Duane E. Swartz age 74, of Grand Rapids, passed away on July 5, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah; mother, Donna (Harold) Mead; inlaws, Richard and Barbara Brown; brother, Richard Swartz; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Tom) Heeren; niece, Jennifer Heeren; and grandniece, Kamrie Heeren. Duane is survived by his sons, Mike (Angie) Swartz and Justin (Caitlin) Swartz; grandchildren, Hannah (Jake) Dawson, Emery, Henry and Hazel Swartz. Also surviving are his siblings, Arthur (Karen) Swartz, Shirley (John) Mull and Pam Swartz; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard (Donna) Brown, Duane (Darlene) Brown, Susan (Fred) Buyze, Denise Heeren, Joan (Harold) Holcom and Craig (Priscilla) Brown; and many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Duane served in the US Army and retired from Knape and Vogt after 40 years of service. The family will gather for visitation on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW from 10 AM to noon and from 2-4 PM. A casual celebration of Duane’s life will be held immediately following the final visitation.
