Life Story / Obituary
Versluis, David Lloyd, age 91, father, grandfather, great grandfather passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, November 18, 2025. David was born January 29, 1934, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to the late Peter and Tena Versluis. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Janice (Koster); and he was the last of 9 brothers and sisters.
David was a dedicated fruit grower and principal partner in Versluis Orchards. He was the driving force for over 60 years. He was an accomplished apple, peach, strawberry, and sweetcorn grower. In addition, he served his church as a deacon and elder, and as a Walker City Commissioner for 8 years. He was a true patriarch, with a generous and loving spirit. He was sociable and gifted with the ability to talk with anybody from major business leaders to farm laborers. David is remembered with fondness and love, a person of high integrity.
He will be deeply missed by his children, David M. (Janis) Versluis, Steven (Julie) Versluis, Peter (Sandra) Versluis and Connie (David) Meekhof; his beloved grandchildren, David T. Versluis, Sarah (Andrew) DeYoung; Jennifer (Nick) Fortosis, Adam (Megan) Versluis, Thomas Versluis, Maria (Isaac) Sprik, Nick (Taryn) Meekhof, Jared (Tess) Versluis, and Laura (Mark) Bosscher; 14 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 11AM LaGrave CRC, 107 La Grave Ave SE, officiated by Pastor Chad Boorsma. Visitation will take place beginning at 10 AM to the time of the service. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 8th Reformed Church Radio Fund.
