Cathy Postma

Catherine (Cathy) Postma passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, June 27, 2024.

She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Monday, September 2, 1957 to the late Charles and Ruth Feirick.

Cathy lived a long and wonderful life doing what she loved, which included marrying the love of her life Sam, road trips, traveling across country and spending holidays with her closest friends and family. Cathy spent much of her time with her church family at Oakdale Park Church serving the community. Her greatest joy in life was caring for her friends and family, a love she expressed through providing food for everyone around her. There wasn’t a soul who ever went hungry when Cathy could help it. It didn’t matter if it was a close family member or a stranger who knocked on her door looking for help.

Cathy’s faith guided her every action, and she dedicated herself to serving others with unwavering compassion and a servants heart. Through her involvement in various church activities, she touched countless lives. She was known for her gentle spirit, her infectious laughter, and her genuine interest in the well-being of everyone around her. She had a unique ability to make each person feel valued and loved, leaving a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with her.

Cathy leaves behind loving family and friends who will carry forward her legacy of love and generosity. While we mourn her loss deeply, we also celebrate a life well-lived and the profound impact she had on so many hearts.

In honoring her memory, let us remember her kindness, her faith and her enduring love for others. May her spirit continue to guide and inspire us all, reminding us of the importance of compassion, community and the joy found in sharing a meal with those we hold dear. A memorial service to celebrate Cathy’s life has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Oakdale Park Church, (961 Temple St. SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49507). Receiving friends and family at 9:30 AM followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM with a luncheon after.
