Schlotzhauer, Robert Brigham, age 83 went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 26, 2020. Bob was born on April 6, 1936 in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of the late Walter and Selma (Christensen) Schlotzhauer. On June 27, 1970 Bob married Janice Hutchins, who preceded him in death on April 23, 2017. He is survived by their daughter, Sandra (Branimir) Uzunov; granddaughter, Eliana “Nicole” Uzunov; his brother, John (Judy) Schlotzhauer; sister, Joan Pohlman; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bob graduated from Ithaca High School in 1954. He attended Cornell University and graduated from General Motors Institute in 1958 with a dealership program degree that included participation in a cooperative work program with Heinrich Motors in Rochester, NY. Bob loved automobiles his entire life. Even as a very young child, he would point to every car that drove by and ask his dad "what kind of car is that?" In 1949, he was the City Champion of Ithaca, NY in the Soap Box Derby after placing 2nd in 1948 and 5th in 1947. He would spend several years as a district service manager for the Oldsmobile division of General Motors. In 1974, he moved his family to Knox, Indiana to pursue his lifelong dream of owning a dealership and purchased Sellers Oldsmobile. He later worked as a dealer service representative for DeLorean Motor Company for the duration of its existence, followed by several van conversion companies. After he and Jan retired, they enjoyed traveling with their RV. He also won several awards at various car shows for his lovingly restored 1966 AMC Ambassador. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his daughter. A brief viewing and graveside service is to be held on February 6, 2020 at 1pm. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers and monetary donations, please consider giving of your time to someone in need of your help and expertise.
