Age 78, passed away August 30, 2022. Bob was born January 3, 1944 in Grand Rapids to the late Henry and Etta (Hollander) Major. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Bertha Hiemstra. Bob graduated from Union High School’s class of 1962 and was a proud member of the Kingtones, playing saxaphone and bass guitar. Over the years, he owned and loved several motorcycles, corvettes and boats. Bob worked for many years as a security guard and retired from Grand Rapids Public Libraries. Bob is survived by his son, Robert E. Lee Major and his children of Carabelle, FL; sister, Pat Major of Grand Rapids; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with his family on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Homes, Alt & Shawmut Hills Chapel, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of West Michigan. www.heritagelifestory.com
