Roth (Highhouse), Betty L. passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on February 10, 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dietrich K. Roth. They were each the center of the other’s life. She is survived by her three children, Robert (and Marcy) Roth, Christine (and Jeff) Gillman, and Stephanie (and Kyle) Carlson. Betty and Dietrich have five amazing grandchildren, Mike Roth, Kayla Roth, Kylee Carlson, Derek Gillman, and Nicole Gillman. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Fred Rosendall and sister-in-law Mary Beth Roth. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Lorine Highhouse and her sister Barbara Rosendall. A graduate of Union High School and the Butterworth School of Nursing; her compassion shown in nursing carried through to most all she did. Betty served her community on the Kenowa Hills School Board from 1979 until 1983. She was an avid volunteer at the County Health Department, her church, Beta Sigma Phi, and the Pilgrim Manor Guild. She loved their cabin on the south branch of the Pere Marquette River, all animals, and especially their dogs Mandy, Mindy, Molly, and Daisy. She quickly made St. John's UCC her church home after marrying Dietrich. Although small in stature Betty was a giant when it came to humor, grace, kindness, and love. The family will hold a private memorial service on Saturday, October 3, at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Dr. NW. The family would like to thank the staff at Covenant Living of the Great Lakes and in 4G at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's memory can be made to Pilgrim Manor Foundation or Grand Rapids Community Foundation.
