Barbara Phyllis VanderWeide passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 23, 2026.
Barbara was born to Virgil and Alta (Taylor) Auxier on June 8, 1933. The oldest of 5 children, she grew up in East Point, Kentucky. Once she became an adult, she moved to Grand Rapids. It was here that she met Russell VanderWeide. Together they raised their children and later welcomed and enjoyed time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was her greatest blessing. Barb and Russ enjoyed traveling and had a great time during their lengthy retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russ, in 2025; and by her siblings, Madeline Coulter and Virgil Auxier Jr.
Barb is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Meryl) and Jody (Deborah); grandchildren, Chad (Nicole) VanderWeide, Sara (Mike) Buhr, Zachary (Steffani) VanderWeide, Joshua (Keeley) VanderWeide, Chloe (Joshua) Nagel and Austin (Kate) VanderWeide; great-grandchildren: Everly, Bowen, Kallie, Jack, Colsen, Naomi, Mckynlee, Nora, Laynee, and Luke.
A private service will be held.
