Alma Hofstra

Alma Marie Hofstra 10/12/1948 – 12/5/2025 Alma Marie Hofstra age 77 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 5, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dale Hofstra, who passed away of cancer on October 18, 2022. Her parents Billy and Marie Townsend, brothers James Townsend, Richard Townsend, sister Sandy Alberts.

She was born on October 12, 1948 to parents Billy and Marie Townsend. She graduated from Grandville High School, where she met her husband Tom Hofstra. They married on December 23, 1966 and shared 56 years together. She was a waitress in the 70’s and 80’s at The Caledonia Wagon Wheel and A&W Airway Drive-in. She enjoyed bowling, clogging and camping with her husband Tom, family and friends. Alma and Tom retired to Donna, Texas.

She is survived by her daughter Lora Hofstra Hooker and son Tom Hofstra, grandson Justin Hooker, granddaughter Jessica Kay (Trevor), grandson Cole Hofstra, great grandchildren Lila Kay, Kolson Hofstra and Huck Hofstra. Her sisters Carol Zimmer and Nancy Timener. sister-in-law Trish Jenny, brother-in-laws Don (Joyce) Hofstra, Ken (Kathy) Hofstra, Jim (Pat) Hofstra, Rog Hofstra, Randy (Karen) Hofstra. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.

A celebration of life will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
