Vito Lentini, age 70, passed away suddenly at home after a bout of pneumonia on October 8, 2025. Vito was born September 13, 1955 in Chicago, IL to the late Peter and Georgette (Armano) Lentini. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Loren Dorethy and mother-in-law, Bonnie Dorethy. Vito was a lifelong learner, educator and coach. He studied at Northern Illinois University and Illinois State University. Vito taught and coached track at several high schools and taught adult health at Spring Arbor University. He later worked as coordinator for Wedgwood Christian Services and Kent County Health Department. Vito loved sports, especially track and field and Chicago Cubs and Bears. But most of all, Vito loved his Lord and Savior, studying the Word of God, journaling, and praying for his family and friends. He was a longtime member of First Evangelical Covenant Church and also attended Ada Bible West. On July 9, 1983, Vito married Laura Dorethy. His wife of 42 years survives as do his sisters, Ann Lentini, Jeanine Card and Judi (Ken) Kolenda; nieces and nephews, Kyle Dorethy, Kary (Jenna) Dorethy, Kelsey Dorethy and Rachel Bea Keener. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lucy Dorethy and brother-in-law, Kevin (Kathy) Dorethy. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 11 AM at First Evangelical Covenant Church, 1933 Tremont Blvd NW. Friends may visit beginning at 10 AM and following the service at the church luncheon. Memorial contributions can be made to First Evangelical Covenant Church.
