Virgil W. Bopp, departed this vale of privilege and responsibility to rest in the glory of his heavenly home on Saturday May 14, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, and son, Robert. Surviving are his wife, Carole; daughter-in-law, Jackie; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael and Kelly Bopp (Makenna, Elijah, Cullen); David and Vivian Bopp (Samuel, Isabella, Daniel); Matthew and Catherine Faulkner (Sydney, Oliver); and Aaron Bopp. In his over 70 years of Gospel ministry, he with his wife served in home missions, as Pastor of Baptist churches in Cumberland, Massena, and Bloomfield, Iowa; Professor at Grand Rapids Baptist College; Pastor of Robinson Baptist Church in Grand Haven, MI; Chaplain at Michigan Christian Home; teacher of classes at North Park Baptist Church; and as guest speaker on many occasions. He also served on the Board of Directors at Michigan Christian Homes and the Beckwith Hills Condominium Association. He attended Moody Bible Institute (diploma) Northeast Missouri State University (B.S. and M.A.) and Western Michigan University (Ed.S.). He was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Scholastic Honor Society. He also wrote several magazine articles and authored one book, “Confidently Committed: a look at the Baptist heritage.” Visitation with the family will be held Friday May 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm. The Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 20, 2022 beginning at 2:00 pm at North Park Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Plainfield Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to North Park Baptist Building Fund and or Continental Baptist Missions.
