Life Story / Obituary
Michelle Lee Mangus passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was surrounded by love in her final days.
Michelle was beautiful, inside and out with an infectious smile, quick and sarcastic sense of humor, and a strong, kind heart. Her fierce loyalty, wise advice, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
At the heart of Michelle's life was her remarkable love story with Bryan. Michelle and Bryan shared a deep and enduring partnership built on love, trust, and shared experience that would shape the rest of their lives. Their marriage was the foundation supporting decades of work, raising children, and making a warm, loving home for their family.
Michelle was a trusted confidant to her sister and friends, and brought joy and humor to those around her. You would find Michelle dancing, shopping, playing video games, and enjoying her favorite foods. More than anything, she loved spending quality time with her family.
To those who are missing her: she would tell you life is too short to eat gross food or dwell on sad things.
Michelle is survived by her soulmate, Bryan Mangus; her daughter, Carly (Cody) Bartman and grandson Bellamy; her son, Nicholas Mangus; stepdaughter, Tabitha (Ryan) Kelley and stepgrandchildren; her father, Clayton Boven; her sister, Anita Boven; her nieces, Angela (Kurtis) Schwaiger and Erica (Scott) Russo; and many beloved close friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Boven (VanderVeen); stepmother, Barbara Boven (VanHaitsma); and her aunt, Linda Yakubowski (VanderVeen).
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 1:30-5 PM at Vitale's Restaurant, 814 Leonard Street NE, 49505.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.
