HABERMAN, Edward L.

Grand Rapids, MI

Age 87, passed away with his loving family at his side on November 12, 2018. Edward was born April 10, 1931 in Grand Rapids to the late Frank and Beatrice (Stone) Haberman. On November 19, 1949, Edward married Mary Basinski, his wife of 68 years survives, as do their daughters, Linda Cole & Sherry Torrice both of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Tammy (Ron) Washburn, Howard (Amy) Cole, Scott (Tonia) Cole, Lisa Cole, Wendy (Keith) Lilly, Traci (Tom) Barr, Stephen (Darci) Steele; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Marian Holbrook; brothers in law, Jimmy Basinski, Wayne Andree; sister in law, Dollie Crockrost; and many nieces and nephews. Edward was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church. He loved his family, Detroit Lions and U of M football, and he was well respected as a union negotiator. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 16 at 11 AM at Faith United Methodist Church, 2600 7th Street NW. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Heritage Life Story Funeral Home, 2120 Lake Michigan Drive NW and beginning at 10 AM Friday at church. Interment will be in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Heart Association.
